Irene
John doesn’t overcomplicate things or use jargon; he listens, understands, and gives advice that truly fits my needs.
My name is Irene Saunders. I’ve been a client of Broom for about 40 years, and my adviser is John Broom.
I ended up with a lot of money coming out of my company, more than I could have ever imagined. My accountant introduced me to John, who then took over my finances little by little.
When I first met John and we had all this money to deal with, I gave him about half of it to deal with in his own way, and I took my company’s advice with the other half of the money. After the first year or the first 18 months, John’s plans had succeeded so much that gradually I transferred everything over to him until he had the whole portfolio. He’s proved to be successful with it. So, I sort of tested him first, but his results were so much better than the big companies.
I just felt immediately comfortable with him. We were on the same wavelength. We were both quite ambitious and business-minded people, and we helped each other because I was going through setting up new companies, etc., and he was too. He was growing and expanding, and we grew together, and we grew to trust each other.
He’s made my life more comfortable through his investments, including when I left the company, and he negotiated everything about my pension to secure mine and my husband’s future.
He reorganised everything that I had to deal with when I got really bad cancer, and then he changed the plan so it organised what would happen with the children, my family and my husband. He’s been a rock, an absolute rock.
When I said I had cancer and it was very dodgy, he immediately called on me and said, “Now we’ve got to plan to look after Barry”, and no one else had done that, but he did. He took such a weight off my shoulders because we planned a trust for the children, we planned what was going to happen to everything, and my husband Barry would be taken care of in every way. It relieved me of the worry of that, so I could concentrate on getting over the cancer and it was so important.
He makes me feel very confident and secure about my financial future. It gives me confidence to live my life without an income now that he has provided one from my investments.
The three words I would use to describe John are efficient, professional, and quirky.
He’s proved over these years that he’s successful, he’s clever, he finds the right answers and he’s very dependable. He really is dependable, trustworthy, and helpful. He takes the load off your shoulders, always.
