Meet the team

We have a strong management team each of whom have in excess of 25 years financial services experience. Additionally they each have individual areas of expertise which adds to the company's strengths.

The theme of excellence and experience is continued with the administration staff that we employ. We realised very early on that to provide quality you need to employ quality. We also realise that learning is an ongoing process and to that end we actively encourage self development.

John Broom John Broom

Prior to founding Broom Consultants as an IFA in 1992, John gained valuable experience in the insurance industry from his first appointment in August 1984 working then for the Aon Group. John developed a philosophy to "do the right thing just because itís the right thing to do". John has carried this belief with him and is proud of the work carried out by the directors, appointed representatives and employees of Broom Consultants Ltd.

Not only do we enjoy the planning and technical work, we're involved in making people aware of the tax and savings advantages available through proper financial advice. Ours is an industry that constantly evolves and John encourages all those associated with Broom Consultants Ltd to strive to keep abreast of the industry development. John constantly improves the service offered, and his own personal growth through working hard.

Mark Johnson Mark Johnson

Mark has been in the life and pensions industry for a total of 31 years. He started out working for an Insurance Company in the City of London and then locally in Essex, joining Broom Consultants Limited as a pension specialist in 1998. He is level 4 Diploma  qualified and has passed the pension specialist exams G60, K10 and K20. Mark strongly believes that it is everyone's right to receive independent, professional, impartial financial advice in a factual but friendly "no nonsense" way.

Jeff Watson Jeff Watson

Jeff started life in financial services at the tender age of 18, with Medical & General. This was followed by a brief spell at Legal & General before he joined Abbey National Financial Services and started his education as an Independent Financial Adviser in 1991, achieving the Financial Planning Certificate soon after. In 1996 he joined Bradford & Bingley and spent 9 years as a senior consultant, before joining Broom Consultants in 2005. Jeff believes that treating everyone with the same respect, while providing what he believes to be the most appropriate advice, helps him continue to nurture strong evolving relationships with his clients.

Mel is a graduate of Anglia Ruskin University. She started her financial services career at M&G Investments in 1997 before moving onto Royal London Insurance in a sales monitoring role. Mel moved into the IFA market mainly in a Compliance and Paraplanning capacity. Mel has achieved the full Financial Planning Certificates 1,2,3 as well as moving onto and passing Advanced Financial Planning Certificates Modules G10 G60 & H15. Mel joined Broom Consultants Limited in 2002 as Compliance Manager. As Compliance Manager, Melanie's role is to ensure that Broom Consultants Ltd continues their commitment to compliance with FCA principles and build upon their strong ethos of treating their customers fairly.
